Tradingdoesn't haveto be hard

The stock market is just a buncha data. Your job is to learn how to read it.

You have to want to learn it. You have to want to become better. But first, you have to do the work.

I've lost money too

Bad trades. Revenge trades. Trades best described as "f*ck it."

Everybody's got a trade they don't talk about at dinner. I've got a whole collection. Here's what they taught me: the charts aren't what wreck you. It's tired you. Mad you. "I'll just make it back" you. So there's no guru act here. Just the stuff I wish somebody had told me first.

You're not behind. People come to me all the time who don't know where to start, and nobody ever showed them the map. "What should I buy?" is the wrong first question. These five come first.

Move the sliders and see what happens. It's all made-up practice math. It can't tell you what will happen to your money.

Every trade costs you a little. It adds up fast.

Example only. We're pretending you have $10,000 and each trade costs you about $10. That includes fees and getting a slightly worse price. Taxes would cost you even more.

People ask me about this all the time

Make AI your study partner

So many people tell me they don't know how to use these. If you can send a text, you can. Claude, ChatGPT, Muse and Grok can explain anything, quiz you and find holes in your plan, and they'll never make you feel dumb for asking. They just can't tell you what the market will do next.

And yes, I know AI comes with a lot of controversy and speculation, and some of those concerns are real. I still strongly believe that used the right way, it's extremely beneficial. It has been for me. The right way means it helps you think. It doesn't think for you.

Claude

From Anthropic. Known for long documents, clear explanations and code.

ChatGPT

From OpenAI. Known for all kinds of questions, spreadsheets and files.

Muse

From Meta, in the Meta AI app. Known for quick, free everyday questions.

Grok

From xAI. Known for keeping up with what's being said on X and the web.

Each one has its own pros and cons, and Start Here lists them side by side. Nobody paid to be listed here.

Act as a patient trading teacher. Interview me one question at a time about my schedule, my savings and debts, how I handle stress and my goals. Don't recommend any stock or broker. At the end, explain which style to learn about first and why. Warn me if it sounds like I shouldn't be risking money yet.

From Bri

Learn the basics before an agent builds you a bot

An AI agent can write you a trading bot fast, and that's exactly why I'm saying this. It can build something you don't understand. If you don't know the market or how your bot works, you won't know when it's wrong, and it's your money on the line.

My rule: if you can't explain what it does, why it trades and how to shut it off, it doesn't touch real money.

Be a smart trader, not a gambler

I don't want you trading, blowing your money and going broke down the line. I know how that road feels. I'm not trying to get you to gamble. I want you to be smart and financially responsible with your trades. The difference isn't the app. It's how you behave.

11.4%
vs 17.9%

Overtrading is how accounts die slowly. In a study of 66,465 US households, the most active traders earned about 11.4% a year while the market earned 17.9%. Every extra trade has to earn back its own costs.

Barber & Odean, Journal of Finance, 2000. Data from 1991 to 1996, when costs were higher. Results vary, and past returns don't predict future ones.
97%

The honest odds. In a study of everyone who began day trading mini-index futures in Brazil from 2013 to 2015, 97% of those who kept going for over 300 days lost money. That's why we start slow and small.

Pay your life first

Bills, emergency fund and high-interest debt come before any trade.

Set a learning budget

Write down the total you'll risk while learning. Hit it and you stop.

Limit your trades

Set a max per day or week. Waiting is part of the job.

Balance your wins so you can keep them

A bad week hits different when trading isn't your whole financial life. So keep two buckets, and use what you learn and earn in trading to help build what you plan to hold for years. The Playbook covers how, with the real downsides included.

Options get their own chapter too, because they can go to zero. Learn how they work before you touch them.

The rule: trading can feed your long-term bucket. Your long-term bucket never feeds your trading. No borrowing against your long-term shares to fund trades.

Long-term bucketMost of your investing money. Built for years, never raided.

What's changing in the market

The biggest changes in decades are underway. Status as of November 3, 2026. Dates can move.

In effect

$25,000 day-trading minimum: goneReplaced by intraday margin rules on June 4, 2026.

Brokers can phase this in until Oct 20, 2027, so ask yours. A lower barrier isn't lower risk.

Target Dec 6

Nearly 24-hour stock tradingNasdaq plans an overnight session, 9 pm to 4 am ET. NYSE Arca plans the same date.

Still needs more approvals and systems. Expect thin trading overnight, and more temptation to overtrade.

Starting

Tokenized stocksThe SEC opened a limited five-year exemption for trading them on blockchain venues in Sept 2026.

Not every "stock token" gives you the same rights or protections as a share. Ask before you buy.

Proposed

Twice-a-year company reportsThe SEC proposed letting companies drop quarterly reports.

Not final. If adopted, there could be fewer official numbers and bigger surprises.

Delayed

Half-penny ticks and order routing rulesPushed to Nov 2027, while the SEC also proposed ending the trade-through rule.

Could change spreads and fills. Nothing to do yet, but keep an eye on your fill prices.

Unsettled

Crypto and prediction marketsThe CLARITY Act stalled in the Senate in Sept 2026. Who regulates prediction markets is being fought in court.

Protections may differ from stocks, and may change. Treat these as speculation.

Hi, I'm Bri

You probably know me as Bri Kubista Online, the artist. I was raised in Charlotte and moved to Miami for the art. Somewhere along the way, I also got hooked on the financial system, which is not what most people expect from an artist.

About six years ago, I lost some money trading, and eventually came back for more, because apparently I don't learn the first time. I've collected the full set: bad trades, revenge trades, and the kind you make right after saying "f*ck it."

I got beat up about it, but then I learned it wasn't my strategy. It was my mindset. I learned how to balance my wins so I could keep them, like the two buckets. The charts were never the hard part. The hard part is the person clicking the button.

Then I went all the way down the rabbit hole. Yes, the artist. Nobody saw that coming, including me.

Now I want to give back. I wish someone had helped me when I was starting out, so I want to be that person for you, as much as I can. People keep asking me where to start, and this is my answer. I learn by doing, so it's built around games and missions. No income screenshots and no guru voice. Just the map, the math and the warnings I'd give a friend.

My story is no promise of your results. Most active traders don't beat the market. I'm not a financial adviser. Everything here is general education, not personal financial advice.

Will this teach me how to get rich?

No, and be careful of anyone who says theirs will. I've lost money myself, and most active traders don't beat simply holding the market. This teaches you to make informed decisions and to find out cheaply whether trading is for you.

Do I need money to start?

No. You can learn and paper trade with no money at risk. Please don't trade with money you need for bills or that you've borrowed. I'm begging you.

Do I need to know how to code or use AI?

No. Starter guide 1 begins with using AI from zero, and you only need code if you decide to build a bot.

I've already lost money. Is it too late for me?

I lost money and came back too. Take a break if you need one, and don't try to make it back fast. Start over on paper with no money at risk, and read the mental game chapter in the Playbook. You don't have to rush.

Are options just gambling?

They can be, if you're buying cheap contracts that expire tomorrow. Time matters a lot with options. You can still lose everything you paid for an option, so learn how they work first and practice on paper.

Can't I just have AI build me a bot and skip the learning?

Please don't. It can build one, but you won't know if it's any good, why it's trading or how to stop it when something breaks. Learn the basics first, then let AI help you build something you actually understand.

Will you tell me what to buy?

No. This is education, not personalized advice, signals or stock picks.

Which guide should I get first?

If you're brand new, start with the Trading Map. If you've picked your style and want strategies and risk rules, get the Playbook. Either one includes The Bot Rundown and the flashcards.
